We are a ward with 26 beds. Our main specialties are thoracic surgery, endocrinology, and upper GI (stomach, esophagus).

Visiting hours on our ward are from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Our nursing team consists of registered nurses, nursing associate professionals, and nursing assistants, who are divided into two teams to care for our patients. Our service staff support us in our work and also take care of your well-being. Naturally, we also train our future colleagues from the AZW and have a nursing apprentice on our team.

We strive to support you as best as possible throughout your hospital stay, to promote your recovery, and to prepare you optimally for your discharge.

We aim to achieve this through:

  • supporting early mobilization and promoting independence in accordance with MH kinaesthetics, with the involvement of our physiotherapists
  • competent wound care
  • modern pain management
  • counseling and support for patients and their relatives regarding post‑discharge care through nursing discharge management. if needed, our social workers prepare applications for long‑term care benefits or rehabilitation.
  • counseling on postoperative diet advancement and nutrition provided by our dietitians

Please bring your medical reports from the past two months as well as a current medication list with you upon admission.

You should also bring slippers (comfortable and slip‑resistant), a toiletry bag, comfortable clothing, and a pyjama or nightgown.

You are welcome to contact us (nursing staff) or your treating physician in advance to inquire about the expected duration of your hospital stay. this allows you to make arrangements for your discharge and to coordinate with your family or friends, ensuring that you are well cared for and not alone during the first days at home.
