Theses

We place particular emphasis on the supervision of theses. The seed of the concept implemented for years – namely to inspire students for surgery and thereby secure future generations through theses, research laboratories (also as post-docs), PhD studies (also part-time), and ultimately as staff members of the VTT – is bearing fruit. It is our highest priority to attract well-trained academic surgeons to the VTT.

If you are interested in a thesis with a surgical topic, you will find currently advertised projects and the corresponding contact persons in our thesis and dissertation exchange. If you are interested in one of the topics, please contact the respective supervisor by email. The supervisor’s name is linked to the corresponding email address.

This link will take you to the registration form for theses of the Department of Teaching and Student Affairs of the Medical University of Innsbruck.

In principle, a thesis should include a retrospective clinical study that may serve as the basis for a subsequent PhD program and ultimately lead to habilitation.

For the thesis, a validated documentation system (ChiBASE) of the VTT is available, which meets all criteria for a registry-embedded clinical trial (auditability) and thus provides the highest level of evidence achievable in health services research. For dissertations and habilitations, we can additionally draw on the laboratories of basic research (DSL and TKFI).

If you are interested in one of the topics, please contact the respective supervisor by email. The supervisor’s name is linked to the corresponding email address.
